Code by hand vs WYSIWYG

People nowadays don't used 'code by hand' anymore since there are many HTML editors around which can do the same functions. But why do we bothered? Well, It is actually useful and new beginners to HTML should start with this first. Even myself learn using hand coding first before I use editor. But Why?

1) You know what you are doing
2) Greater control, meaning that you get what you want.
3) Create smaller files since there are no extra junk code from the HTML editor

What do you guys think?

On web zone talk, you can't code by hand, so I just use their editor.

I use editor (Dreamweaver) first, then through that, I learned many HTML codes since Dreamweaver displays the HTML code and the preview all at the same time. After that, when I edit, I use notepad to code by hand.

It's not that easy to code by hand all of those html codes in your page. It is much easier and faster in the WYSIWYG editor. Also, you can learn HTML codes in the editor by analyzing those codes. Just use our common sense and we will learn thru that.

I use notepad++.... without syntax highlighting I'm worthless as a web developer.

WYSIWYG HTML editor is mostly for people who doesn't know how to write HTML to easily write it.

I like to code it myself coz I have control of it ^^

but when I use Visual Studio .Net to write a web application.
I am sure I'll hate to write all the code by myself...that will kill me ><

so it depend on why you use WYSIWYG...

WYSIWYG HTML editor provides facility to design quick html designs and layout settings. I think its the best way to do web design. I am using dream weaver for designing my html pages.
