What is domain name?

Domain is something similar to your name. If you don't have a name, how will you function? You need domain name to identify one or more IP addresses. For example, "google.com " domain name represent more than 10 IP addresses. Domain names are used in url to represent webpages. For example,
http://www.egcg.co.uk/forum/index.php is a url and here " www.egcg.co.uk " is domain name.

Because most people refer to them just as "websites" "links" or "URLs". When you throw Domain Name in the mix, it just throws people off.

When I first started out in the internet buisness I had no idea what a domain name was. I used to call it the URL, so for a newbie it is useful, good explanation.
