Angry Urgent problem with phpBB

I'm quite tired at the moment and don't feel like typing it all out again, so heres the link to the phpBB support topic 403 Forbidden on posting.php

I was wondering if you guys made any changes to the server that would cause that to happen.

Thank you,
Yata

You may want to check your admin panel where you might have choose the option of not allowing users to post.

Or you might want to change it back to normal theme and try posting again. What I would also do is to post this problem at the phpbb community at phpBB • Creating Communities Worldwide ?

As I stated in the topic post, I have posted at the phpBB support community and no-one has been of any assistance at all. phpBB • View topic - 403 Forbidden on posting.php..

I'm going to try backing up all my data and uninstalling phpBB and the DB, then installing again and restoring the backups. Do you think that would work?

I think it will work. This time, you may use Fantastico script from your control panel which will make things a lot easier to install or update it. Then you reinstate your database and it should do.

I'd feel better to just install it manually.

It is upto you. I prefer smf forum as they are a bit more secure. Did you try with previous phpbb template ?

Since the forum already has sql data (meaning threads, posts, members, etc.) I won't just be switching forum software. Even if I had to, I'd stick with phpBB.

I'm preforming the uninstall now. I'll post again when the whole process is over.

Edit: yes the template is not the problem.

And now I can't log into the admin panel! Or log in at all! It says "Template path could not be found: styles/VistaX/template".

I guess I have to edit the SQL?

Edit:
I fixed that problem, but now it's still the same thing on posting.php!

It must be some change WZT made to the server, because I've checked every possible cause on my end.
This is really irritating me

I was told it was a problem with mod_security on your end. Here is the covo between the support staff member and I:

Quote:
It's your hosts mod_security being tripped by something you're writing.
You can work out what it is by halving the text, posting it and seeing what
happens. If it works, the trigger word is in the bit you didn't post,
and if it bugs out, it's in the bit you did post. Keep halving until
you work out what it is and ask your hosts if they can allow it.
Quote:
Thanks for the response!
The thing is, it does not matter what's in the post. I've tried a varity of words, even just random letters, and
it does not work.

Could it possibly be my host made a mistake using mod_security so that it's disallowing all of this?
Quote:
Could be. Drop them a line and see what's up.
Also check the permissions of that file. It should be CHMOD 644
Quote:
The file's attributes are 644.
I'll see what my host says.
