Is web hosting business still good opportunity?

My friend has good hosting business before but he said nowadays it is really hard to compete with other big hosting companies.

I was planning to start own hosting business and now I got to think a lot.

Of course the web hosting market is very competitive nowadays. There is high demand for hosting all the time, but often customers prefer to use big hosting companies rather than little ones.
If you have funds to advertise and pay for good servers, it may still be possible to create a successful web hosting business. I own one myself and have about 50 customers.

Well i was a reseller of webhosting packages and i did earnd a nice amount of money from them but now the4re is not that much profit in it so i have left this business.

This business will not loose its importance. No matter how many companies comes forward there will be enough space for all of them. Thats the potential of intenet. Offer good price and excellent service and ther will be no problem.

If you can find something else to start with less compitition than I'd do that instead. Creating niche sites can be much more lucrative. There are so many different hosting companies and a lot of the big ones have the market dominated. Unless you can come up with something different in your hosting that will make people want to come to you it's going to be an uphill climb. You can make money in hosting if you try but I would personally use my time and money to start something unique if you can.

its a big business, people earn a side income from reseller hosting. but the main catch is uptime 99.98% is bad while 99.99% is good 100% is rare
